I come to my favourite piece of all: a nightmare combination of “Rigoletto" and "The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” in which a humped jester drags an invisible load of iniquity round with him as well as a huge bunch of dungeon keys while visored knights clank round the stage, and wimpled ladies stalk round primly all to no other accompaniment than the clicking of their tongues. The programme is beautifully lit and admirably set in Japanese type moving screens, and is a total enchantment. Wait a Minim? We have waited for years for something as good.
