Pollution Symposium

It is a matter of regret that Christchurch, which has the worst air pollution in New Zealand, has not been able or progressive enough to provide the facilities for a symposium on air pollution, according to the publicity officer for the Christchurch branch of the New Zealand Clean Air Society (Mr P. V. Neary). He said that a symposium of this nature would be held in Auckland on September 12 and 13. It was being organised by the Royal Society of Health, the New Zealand Institute of Engineers, and the Auckland Air Pollution Research Committe.

All aspects of the problem will be dealt with—from economics, pollution climatology, current trends in air pollution control, motor vehicles, the chemical industry, and pollution from nuclear power stations. Mr C. G. Martin, a Christchurch consulting engineer, will give a paper on the economics of air pollution control.
