130,787 At Fair

A record number of people 130,787 attended this year’s Industries Fair which finished on Saturday evening. The previous record was 125,000 in 1961, the first year the fair was held at Canter* bury Court. Fine weather—there was no rain during the fair from the time it started on August 15—and the greater number of working exhibits are thought to have encouraged the greater attendance. A record was also set for the number of visitors in one day—lB,lll on Saturday, August 24. Last Saturday 8700 attended in spite of unpleasant weather earlier in the day.
