Club Races

Back-markers were the dominant performers tn club cycling races held on the weekend. G. J. Day was first, and took second-fastest time, in the Papanui club's Alan Morewood 55-mile memorial race, and G. R. Sword was first, and took fastest time, in the Avon club's race.

Day stole the Papanui race when he cleared off just before the finish and held his 12sec lead to win from W W. Thorpe, who outsprinted the bunch However. B. G. Stockwell once again dominated the field, and took fastest time from scratch, riding by himself and chasing a bunch of four. Stockwell was as much as 35sec down on time from the break bunch, but caught it up when these riders reached the front shortly before the finish. Detailed Results
