ALPINE MOTEL
The Mount Cook National Park Board would welcome the provision of public accommodation by way of a motel or hotel at the new alpine village site, the chairman (Mr N, S. Coad) said yesterday. While the provision of such accommodation was most desirable as a start to the village, the board realised that it would probably not come until ail sites in the Hermitage area had been used. Apart from the Hermitage, there is only one large building nearby—the Glencoe Motor Inn. This will soon be extended, leaving a site for another large motel or two small ones.
The Tourist Hotel Corporation also had land available to provide accommodation of the same standard as at the Hermitage.
