FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation. —The depression south-east of the South Island is moving south-east and its associated frontal zone is moving east off the North Island. A strong south-westerly airstream covers the Tasman Sea.

Forecast: Canterbury and Marlborough.—Southwesterlies, fresh at times along the coast, but winds inland often moderate and variable; some snow showers in the Alps; elsewhere variable skies, with a few scattered showers on exposed parts of the coast; cool. Nelson.—Fresh gusty south-westerly winds; variable cloud, with scattered showers, chiefly about the ranges. Buller and Westland.—South-westerlies, fresh at times; changeable and rather cold, with occasional showers; some snow on the ranges. Outlook: similar weather. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
