Three-quarter Charolais

Mr J. M. Sutherland, of Millstream, Waimate, has his first three-quarter Charolais calf. It was born on August 21.

Mr Sutherland says that the calf was out of a heifer born in September. She was inseminated at 13i months and calved without trouble at about 22 J months.

As far as calving of Charolais cross calves is concerned, Mr Sutherland says, he is convinced that under ordinary store conditions there is no more trouble than with any other breed. This heifer showed no signs of calving at 11.30 p.m. but had calved a heifer by 1.15 a.m. The calf is pure white.
