Protests

Sir, —“The pen is mightier than the sword,” but true thought is mightier than either. Is to be seen and heard the most effective way for protesters to make their views felt in a world torn by conflicting ideas? The bustle of assembling, distribution of placards, and jockeying for a place in the march al! excite and tend to detract from the real purpose of the march. Objective protesting is a form of belligerency aimed at those who have contrary views and only tends to confuse issues. I would suggest that some quiet easily-accessible place be made available for a week where all who wish to protest can do so at any time by standing silent with their thoughts. World harmony is not a thing in itself; it can only be attained through the private life of the individual. —Yours, etc., R. J. GLEN. August 28, 1968.
