HOSPITALS FIRE QUIZ

The Christchurch Hospital pathology department’s A team won the Vigilant Rosebowl in a fire prevention quiz, and Nurse S. Lockington, of the Princess Margaret Hospital, won the Duplex trophy for the best individual score.

Thirty-two teams competed in the first round of the competition and four reached the finals in the Nurses’ Recreation Hall.

The hospital’s accident and emergency department was second in the team event and the pathology department at Princess Margaret Hospital was third.

The runner-up in the quiz for individuals was Miss S. Wilson of the Christchurch Hospital’s pathology department

The quiz was based on the hospitals’ fire prevention rules and Its fire instruction handbook. The North Canterbury Hospital Board’s fire prevention officer (Mr W. Clarke) was the quizmaster and the judges were Mr J, G. Laurenson, the board’s secretary, and the Chief Fire Officer of the Christchurch Fire Brigade (Mr L. R. Osmond).
