SCHOOLS IN SYDNEY Church Move Considered

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copuright;

SYDNEY, August 28.

Roman Catholic school authorities are considering eliminating fifth and sixth forms from a number of Roman Catholic schools in Sydney. According to the “Catholic Weekly” these forms could be restricted to a limited number of regional schools. The “Catholic Weekly” said today an alternative proposal to reduce the number of elective subjects offered in secondary schools was being discussed. But no decision had been made on steps to be adopted next year. The newspaper said the failure of the Commonwealth Government to come to the assistance of non-Government schools in this year’s budget, other than by a library grant, had led to considerable public discussion on the future of these schools.
