Pessimism In Paris

PARIS, August 28.
United States and North Vietnamese peace negotiators met in Paris for the nineteenth time today as tightly deadlocked as at any time since the talks on the Vietnam war began on May 13. An atmosphere of pessimism surrounded today’s talks, and many Western sources described the impasse as “more complete than at any time since President Johnson’s speech of March 31, which led to the talks.”
New Satellite.—The Soviet Union has launched the 236th space satellite in its Cosmos research series, and it is in orbit between 375 to 409 miles above the earth. — Moscow, August 28.
