Returned An engineer officer from a ship at Lyttelton completed the journey through the tunnel to Heathcote on a bicycle, the Christchurch-Lyttelton Road Tunnel Authority was told at its meeting yesterday. He was intercepted by one of the authority’s traffic inspectors and told that cycling was banned in the tunnel. The man and the bicycle were returned to Lyttelton by van. Land For P.O. The Heathcote County Council has set aside 15 perches at the comer of Colombo Street and Woodbridge Road for a new post office. To be known as Thorrington Post Office, it is expected to be open within three years. Tunnel Check A close watch was being kept on vehicles which seriously held up following traffic, the superintendent (Mr W. A. Wheldale) told a meeting of the Christchurch-Lyttelton Road Tunnel Authority yesterday. All vehicles checked at low speeds or with excessive exhaust fumes were reported, and repeated incidents were acted upon.
