Group profit of Barraud and Abraham, Ltd, the Palmerston North merchant, edged up $734 to $77,000 in the year to May 31.
The result was after providing $276 less for depreciation at $24,912 and $2O more for tax at $72,560. The earning rate on higher average shareholders’ funds, however, declined from 7.7 per cent to 7 per cent, while the rate on higher average capital eased from 10.7 per cent to 10.6 per cent. The steady dividend of 7j per cent requires $54,750.
