Princess’s Death
A cablegram to the private secretary of the Queen, expressing the sympathy of New Zealand on the death of Princess Marina, has been sent by the Governor-General (Sir Arthur Porritt). The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) has sent the following message of condolence: “Mrs Holyoake joins me and my colleagues in the Government in expressing deepest regret and sympathy at the passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Marina. Those of us who had the privilege of meeting Her Royal Highness have the happiest memories of her great charm and friendly interest, and I know that all our people will mourn this untimely loss of one who was so widely loved throughout the Commonwealth.”
