Leprosy Project In Indonesia
A reconstructive surgery and leprosy rehabilitation project near Djakarta will be set up by the Mission to Lepers in New Zealand ■ and Australia. The two countries will staff and finance the project. The plan was initiated by the Indonesian Health Department and the leprosy mission. The secretary of the Mission to Lepers (N.Z.), the Rev. M. Feist, returned to Auckland from Djakarta after negotiating the plan. It was initialled by Dr Kamal Mahmud for the Health Department, but it needs ratification at Cabinet level. Mr Feist says it is hoped to have two team members from New Zealand and Australia. Three of the four members of the team have already been found, but appeals are still being made for a surgeon.
