WAR NURSE DEAD

AUCKLAND, Aug. 26.
Mrs Ruth Jamieson, a veteran nursing sister who served with New Zealand troops in the First World War, died in Auckland on Friday, aged 83. Mrs Jamieson, before her death one of the oldest remaining members of the Returned Army Nursing Sisters’ Association, was bom and trained as a nurse in Auckland.
During the war she treated injured soldiers in France and North Africa as well as spending a term on a hospital ship. After the war, Mrs Jamieson continued nursing in New Zealand and Samoa.
