(N.Z. Press Association)
NELSON, August 27.
New Zealand Sea Products Export, Ltd, resumed processing in Nelson today after the arrival of Sea Harvester II with about 40 tons of fish, caught off the Chatham Islands, about 500 nautical miles from Nelson. The factory was closed yesterday and will work only four days this week. It is the first time the company has availed itself of the offer to work a short week, made by the staff about six weeks ago. The company’s other trawler is also fishing off the Chatham Islands and .is due in port on Friday. The administration officer, Mr P. Oxnevad; said today that the fish brought in by Sea Harvester II should last this week and that Sea Harvester 1 should have sufficient for next week. Catches were improving, he said. A big increase could be expected from next month.
