Top Sides Emerge In K Cup

(N.Z. Press Association)

GORE. The match between Eastern Southland A and Auckland A this morning could virtually decide the winner of major section A of the New Zealand women’s hockey championship. Both sides are unbeaten.

A win to Otago A, also unbeaten, in major section B is still not assured. It will meet Canterbury A, surprisingly beaten by Waikato on the first day, tomorrow morning. Canterbury is showing much better form now and could beat Otago. Auckland B, which had been in the running in major section B, was beaten today by Canterbury A, 4-1. The inside-left, H. Walker, scored all Canterbury’s goals. Nelson leads minor section

A with eight points, a point ahead of Ashburton and Southland. But Southland had played a match fewer than the others.
