CHANGES IN COLOMBIA
Resignation Of Cabinet
(N.Z.P.A. -Reuter—Copyright) BOGOTA (Colombia), Aug. 24.
President Carlos Lleras Resterpo’s Cabinet resigned today to allow the President to carry out a long-expected reshuffle of his 13-man team.
A communique from the Presidential palace said the decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting today to give the President freedom of action to make Cabinet changes he considered necessary. The changes would be in keeping with "current political circumstances” in Colombia, the communique added. It did not elaborate.
The resignations were seen by observers as a reiteration of the protocol resignations the Ministers submitted in June before the President completed his second year in office on August 7.
