Southbridge Shield
The Southbridge Shieldsymbol of Canterbury subunion Rugby supremacy—has been won this season by Hurunui. This is Hurunui’s first win in the series since 1962.

After having held the Munro Shield in the under 20 inter-sub-union competition for 10 seasons, North Canterbury was relegated to second place behind Ellesmere this season.
Ellesmere also won both its shield matches, beating North Canterbury 13-11, and Hurunui 22-9.
