In matches in the mens national indoor basketball tournament at Masterton. New Plymouth beat Wairarapa. 55-54, and Hawera beat Marlborough, 66-56. At half-time Wairarapa led 33-16 and still had a slight lead with only six minutes to go. Then three fouls were called on Wairarapa players and New Plymouth managed to score the winning point. G. Taylor had the top score for Hawera in the ntalvh against Marlborough, with 18 points. W. Shaw shot 16 points for Marlborough. , Hutt Valley beat Hawke s Bav 70-36 earlier in the day. A fine game between the visiting Bockhampton (Queensland) team and Canterbury could have gone either way. but Canterbury finished strongly to *ResuU«*—Hutt Valley 70, Hawke’s Bay 36; Wanganui 60, Tauranga 50: Canterbury 53, Rockhampton 45; New Plyinouth 55. Wairarapa o 4; Wellington 111. Tkuranga 35; Nelson so. Hutt Valley Palmerston North 107. Marlborough 52.
