On July 3, the New Caledonian Territorial Assembly issued an invitation to Mr Inchauspe to visit Noumea and “discuss local problems.” A mission to Paris in May from the New Caledonian Assembly was refused audience by General Pierre Billottee, since deposed as Minister for Overseas Territories.
