Successful Day For Trainer, Jockeys

PALMERSTON NORTH. Th* Foxton trainer, H. J. Callahan, and th* jockeys, R. B. Marsh and H. N. Rauhihl, w*ro the stars at the Foxton Racing Club's meeting on Saturday. Callahan trained three winners on his home course. Marsh rode three winners and Rauhihl two.
Callahan saddled up Master Brynn to take the Bergin Handicap. Earlier he won a division of the Trial Stakes with King’s Charge which was one of Rauhihi's mounts. Later Queen's Charge took the Wharangi Handicap in a thrilling finish with the little fancied Brazil.
Rauhihi’s other winner was a former northerner, Long Blow, which recorded an out-
standing performance to beat the hack stayers. Long Blow, which is trained by E. Ropiha, had to overcome a bad position on the home turn
Marsh took the T.A.B. double on Master Brynn and Royal Tudor. In between he won the Trial Stakes No. 2 on the outsider, Conte de Fee.
Master Brynn maintained his consistent form with a fine effort in the Bergin Handicap. Marsh found himself in an awkward position at the halfmile when Master Brynn was finding trouble securing a run. but he kept to the rails and the run cam* as they began the last furlong. By this time GUs, which had established a lead of three ingths on the turn, was still in front and fighting on well but Master Brynn kept up a solid run 7 and caught Gus in the last stride.
Royal Tudor ran down Floodlit near the post to take the Robinson Handicap, the second leg of the double. Marsh rode a patient race. He delayed his final challenge until the field had come inside ♦he last furlong and Royal Tudor caught Floodlit in the last 50 yards.
