FOXVALE IN TROUBLE
Filling In Tendon
“The Press’* Special Service AUCKLAND
Fox vale, by the very worst luck, has struck more trouble, just when he was beginning to do well in his training for a Melbourne campaign this spring. His latest setback has been caused by filling in a tendon. While not necessarily' serious it could well keep him from some valuable racing. Foxvale had to be scratched from the Jellicoe Handicap at Ellerslie on Saturday. Last summer he had to be set aside soon after an impressive win in the South Auckland Cup at Pukekohe.
Red Crest looked close to good form again when he galloped with Terrific and Bright Chief over almost a mile and a quarter between races at Ellerslie on Saturday. Terrific made the pace from Bright Chief with Red Crest third most of the way. When the pace quickened near the three furlongs Red Crest closed on the other two and he was a head behind Terrific at the finish.
Terrific ran the last mile in 1:53 2-5 and the last three furlongs In Msec —ressonable time for such work because they galloped 20 feet out and the ground waa very slow.
All going Well Red Crest, Terrific and Bright Chief will be in the Melbourne Cup this year.
