North And South XVs
The selection of the injured P. K. Hatchwell (Canterbury) and the 21-year-old Mid-Can-terbury player, J. W. Greenslade, as wings are the surprises of the South Island Rugby team announced at the week-end. ' The features of the North Island team are the return of M. A. Herewini (Auckland); the naming of the voung North Auckland flanker, B. Holmes; and the pairing of the test centres, G. S. Thorne (Auckland) and W. L. Davis (Hawke’s Bay), with Davis as second five-eighths. B. L. Going must have also gone very close to selection and, consequently, a share ! n a New Zealand record.
