Church Paper’s Role
Although the State has largely taken over the Church's responsibility in helping the sick and needy and providing education, it is nonsense to advocate that it should now renounce interest in what it has helped to produce, says an editorial in the latest issue of the “New Zealand Methodist." Replying to criticism of the newspaper for "mixing with politics and the mundane affairs of the world," the editorial says "so long as politics, economics and social issues remain part of life, they must be part of our Christian concern.”
