Basketball record?
’THE 57 points which the Otago Boys’ High School player, J. Macdonald, scored against Christchurch Boys’ High School in a men’s basketball match last week appears to be a record. Local basketball officials cannot recall anybody else even approaching this total at any level of competition. There have been instances of players reaching 30 points but these have been few and far between. Macdonald is currently regarded as one of the most promising young prospects in the sport, although he missed selection for the New Zealand colts side last season. He has been a regular member of the Otago representative team’s first line-up and has been one of its most prolific scorers.
