Report In November On Wool Marketing

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, August 20.

The findings of the committee considering the wool marketing study group’s recommendation to establish a wool marketing authority will be given in November.

Sir John Acland, chairman of the Wool Board, said to the board’s.electoral committee today that the committee had considered 60 submissions about the group’s report, and 99 papers from its own working party, and had made decisions on some matters.

He expected a report to be given to the board and the Wool Commission about November.

Sir John Acland said submissions had been received from bankers, merchants, scientists, branches and provinces of Federated Farmers, individual woolgrowers, and large overseas organisations. The main objective of the committee had been to obtain a marketing system whereby wool was sold in such a way that the preference of users for wool was increased, and growers obtained maximum net proceeds, said Sir John Acland. “We then looked at all the characteristics of the scheme which were likely to help gain these ends.” Sir John Acland said that, in some areas no decisions had been reached, but it had been agreed that it was desirable to provide better means of communicating the market’s requirements to growers.
