COACH, PLAYERS REPRIMANDED
The Canterbury Rugby Union will write to the High School Old Boys club reprimanding the coach and players of the club’s under 7st 71b team.
This was reported last evening by the president (Mr C. H. McPhail) after the management committee had spent 80 minutes in committee discussing the under 7st 71b
game between Old Boys and Christchurch, played on August 10. The match was abandoned by the referee (Mr G. V. James) after Christchurch had scored a try to take a 9-6 lead.
In a statement last week Mr McPhail said it appeared the referee had taken this course of action because of the “incessant barracking” by some sections of the spectators, and the questioning of his decisions by one team. In reporting the management committee’s decision, Mr McPhail said the union deplored the actions and comments of some of the spectators. Under-15 Side The Canterbury under-15 Rugby team to play Mid-Canter bury at Ashburton on Saturday contains seven players from St Andrew's College. It is: D. Ward (Old Boys): M.
