THE ‘NEW NIXON’

Humphrey Comments

(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) CHICAGO, August 19.

Glancing nervously over bis shoulder at his Democratic rivals, Vice-President Hubert Humphrey ended his last preconvention campaign trip to Chicago today with his strongest attack to date on the Republican ticket, the New York Times News Service reported. “I’ve read of the new Nixon —in 1952, in 1956, in 1958, in 1960, in 1962, and in 1968,” he told a group of Humphrey supporters at noon. “I’ve □ever know one man that had so many. political face-lifting jobs in my life.” Later in the day, he delighted 3500 delegates to the national convention of the United States Workers’ Union by pointing to the arrow in his Vice-Presidential seal and shouting happily, “I know how I’m going to use it. Nixon is the one.”
