Prospecting Warrant In Scenic Reserve
(New Zealand Press Association)
AUCKLAND, August 19.
The Minister of Lands (Mr Maclntyre) today approved mineral prospecting warrants for Mineral Developments, Ltd, on 1302 acres of the 1687-acre North Cape scenic reserve. The consent was received at today’s sitting of the Mining Warden’s Court.
The application was filed on August 25 last year. The company’s accountant, Mr D. H. McDonald, said the company’s impression was that there would be no result from the prospecting. Mr Maclntyre imposed several conditions to his comment.
The company will be able to bore with machinery or by hand, but when prospecting is finished it must fill in all the holes and restore the land as nearly as possible to the original condition. The company must not construct, alter, damage, or
destroy any tracks, make excavations, or destroy any native bush without the consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands. No firearms are to be taken into the reserve area, and no buildings erected without consent.
