Jockey’s Son In Fall
(N Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY. The Australian jockey, George Moore, who returned from a successful season in Britain recently, and his apprentice son, Gary, figured in a sensational scene when the youngster’s mount fell at the Rosehill races on Saturday. Young Moore was riding Birthright which fell a few yards after passing the winning post in the Lidcombe Flying Handicap.
George Moore, who rode the favourite. Royal Rene, which finished second in the race, galloped his mount back to where his son was lying unconscious on the track. He dismounted and rushed to his son’s side.
Within hearing of the race crowd, Moore said: “The club doctor should be here to treat him. the boy could be dying.”
A doctor, not associated with the club, ran across the track to examine Gary Moore and ordered that he be taken immediately to Parramatta Hospital. Moore waited until his son was put in an ambulance before coming back to the enclosure to weigh in after the race. He was greeted with applause and calls from the crowd of.
“Good on you, George, you did the right thing.” Doctors at Parramatta Hospital said that Gary Moore’s condition was satisfactory. He had slight concussion and was being held for observation. Suspension (N.Z. Press Association) TAURANGA. P. Yovich, the rider of Ujinx in the Kawerau Maiden Plate, was suspended until August 24 by the judicial committee of the Whakatane Racing Club, at Tauranga on Saturday. He was found guilty of causing interference to Pundanui and Rockfield. both these horses receiving severe interference.
