The black power advocate, Stokely Carmichael, has been barred from visiting Trinidad, where he was bom, Trinidad Embassy sources in Washington confirmed today.

The Trinidad Government has declared him persona non grata after his inquiry at the Embassy about a visit next month. He was said to have wanted to go to Trinidad on holiday with his wife, the South African singer, Miriam Makeba.

Trinidad Embassy sources confirmed that the visit had been banned on instructions from their Government, but they could not provide details.

Carmichael, who is 27, has lived in the United States since his family went there when he was 11. He is a naturalised American.
