Nine Sailings Intended

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 9.

Representatives of the two major German shipping lines —the North German Lloya and Hamburg - America which with the Columbus line will be starting a service of nine sailings a year between New Zealand and Northern European ports, have completed a week’s discussion with New Zealand exporting groups. The representatives, Mr H. J. Kruse (Hamburg-America) and Mr A. K Sager (North German Lloyd), left Wellington for San Francisco yesterday. Mr Kruse said the German lines wanted nine sailings a year but the Conference Lines would only grant three.

“But whether we are in or out of the conference—we are determined to have the nine sailings,” he said.
