UNIVERSITY VACANCIES AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY LECTURER IN GERMAN APPLICATIONS are Invited for appointment to a new post of Lecturer in German in the Faculty of Arts. The appointee will be expected to take up duty by March, 1969. The appointee will be responsible for the teaching of Science German and will also be required to take part in the practical teaching of German in Arts courses. Necessary prerequisites are therefore: A science background and/or a continuing interest in the natural sciences. A very good command of German and English. Some teaching experience. The Department of German offers courses leading to the pass and honours degree of Bachelor of Arts, and coursework and supervision is provided for higher degrees. Salary on appointment will be in accordance with qualifi cations and experience within the range $5400 (6 x $270; 1 x $280)—57300 per annum Australian currency. The University provides reasonable travel and removal expenses and assistance with housing. Superannuation is on the F.S.S.U. pattern with supplementary benefits. The Department provides undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Physiology, Anatomy and Pharamacology for courses leading to degrees in Veterinary Science, Agricultural Science and Science. The Professor will be responsible for academic leadership in these three disciplines and for the co-ordination and, where appropriate, the integration of their teaching. It is desirable, though not essential, that he have a degree in veterinary science and that he have considerable experience in at least one of the disciplines, and for which he will be expected to assume direct responsibility for teaching and research. The title of the Chair will be in keeping with the major interest of the appointee. Salary in the range SNZ72OO to SNZ92OO.
