WELLINGTON, Aug. 9. The Minister of Island Territories (Mr Hanan) has announced that the State Services Commission has appointed Mr S. D. Wilson as Resident Commissioner of Niue. Mr Wilson succeeds Mr L A. Shanks, who was recently appointed chief executive officer with the Department of Health.
Mr Wilson joined the Department of Island Territories in September, 1957, and served on Niue as administrative assistant to the Resident Commissioner from 1958 to 1961.
Since 1962 Mr Wilson has served in the head office of the department and currently is administrative officer (social and economic) in the Island Affairs Division of the Maori and Islands Affairs Department For the last three years Mr Wilson has been a member of the New Zealand delegation to the annual session of the South Pacific Commission at Noumea.
