Reunion Proposal

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter — Copyright) MOSCOW, Aug. 8. Russia’s lovesick giant panda, An-An, is to go to London for another attempt to win the hand of his intended bride, ChiChi.

The Moscow Zoo has agreed in principle to let An-An make the trip to London for a second meeting—and. it is hoped, first mating—with the Regent's Park panda. When Chi-Chi was brought to Moscow for several months , in 1966, she politely but firmly brushed aside An-An's romantic advances throughout the 40 hours they were together. Since then, London Zoo officials have been trying to persuade the Russians to send An-An to London in the hope that Chi-Chi would be more receptive in familiar surroundings. Until now, the director of ' the Moscow Zoo (Dr Igor Sosnovsky), has given a firm, i but polite refusal. He could see no hope of a successful i reconciliation between the , two, who are the only giant pandas in captivity outside > China. I
