The Airship Mystery
Sir, —I was surprised to read this morning the letter about airships in 1909. On September 10,1907,1 was present taking an active part when the “Nulli Secundus" airship was just brought out of her shed for a test flight. She had what were possibly the first aeronautical adjustable airscrews. She made other flights on September 30 and October 3. On October 7, 1907, she flew from Farnborough to London, circled the St Paul’s Cathedral and Buckingham Palace, and landed at Crystal Palace. A little later I saw the “Beta,’’ “Gamma,” “Delta,” “ClementBayard,” and the French airship, “Lebaudy.” This had flown from France to Farnborough.—Yours, etc., MEREBIMUR. August 7, 1968.
