University Staffing

The survey by the Association of University Teachers of staff losses and gains, called “defective in several aspects” in a leading article in “The Press” yesterday, was in fact correct, said the Canterbury chairman of the association (Mr R. Shepherd) yesterday. Mr Shepherd said that eight persons, loosely described as on their way to New Zealand, included all those known to have left for New Zealand or to be working out their notice overseas.

The figures from January to the end of May therefore stood as 56 already gone from New Zealand and 47 more having overseas appointments and working out notice, compared with 77 who had already arrived in New Zealand and eight more appointed in New Zealand and working out notice overseas.
