Heating Of Cells
The cells in the 96-year-old block at the Central Police Station are being warmed by thermostatically-controlled electric heaters. The heating of the. cells, formerly done by an ancient coalfired boiler, was stopped several weeks ago when the boiler was disconnected because additional cells are being added to the rear of the block where the boilerhouse was. Prisoners can now use two stainless steel sinks, hot water, a toilet and an electric razor.
