New Bid For H. and J. Court

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Aug. 8. John Court, Ltd, Auckland, today added $70,000 to its take-over bid for H. and J. Court, Ltd, but the directors of the Hamilton department store owner still recommend rejection of the offer. The amended bid is 135 c cash a share, compared with 110 c in the original offer made on July 22. The other conditions—6c a share dividend and a minimum acceptance of 75 per cent—remain unchanged.

The bid is now worth $378,000.

The directors of H. and J. Court said today they would recommend rejection and added that the holders of more than 25 per cent of the capital would follow their directions.
