Record Mark Ratified
The world speedboat record set by P. R. Knight (New Brighton) has been ratified by the International Union of Motor-Boating. Knight was timed at 114.131 m.p.h. on the Estuary in his hydroplane, Bel Air HL six weeks ago. He broke the world record for the 150 cu. in hydroplane class, held by the American driver, W. Thomson. It is the first world speedboat record to be set in New Zealand and the first held by a New Zealander.
