Dairy Export Packaging

New Zealand’s high reputation overseas for its packaging of dairy produce was jealously guarded by the Dairy Board, the Dairy Division of the Department of Agriculture and container manufacturers, said Mr K. Piercy, of Dunedin, a member of the Dairy Board, yes terday. He was talking to the Industrial Design Council's food packaging and labelling conference.

Mr Piercy said New Zealand’s high reputation for dairy produce packaging was evident from comments frequently made on the protection afforded the contents, ensuring a minimum amount of damage.

“This reputation is especially important in competition with overseas countries,” he said.

Control of container supply through the Dairy Board had enabled the provision of bulk packages for export produce of a high and uniform standard.

Bulk purchasing by the board ensured the greatest economy in cost, and provided the maximum incentive to container manufacturers in the supply of high quality goods.
