Manslaughter Charge
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Aug. 8. A youth will appear in the Ruatoria Magistrate’s Court tomorrow charged with manslaughter after the death of a nine-year-old boy at Ruatoria on Tuesday. The body of the boy, Hami Tuhoro Reedy, was found under a hedge at his father’s farm at 9 p.m. on Tuesday. He was last seen alive five hours earlier.
After a post-mortem examination police inquiries were intensified.
A team of 15 policemen from Napier, Hastings, Wairoa, Gisborne and Ruatoria, under the control of the Hawkes Bay C. 1.8. regional supervisor. Detective Inspector B. Wilkinson, investigated the case.
The arrest was made about 8.15 tonight Earlier in the day police took possession of a .22 rifle.
