Canterbury Employers
A meeting of the Canterbury Employers’ Association yesterday overwhelmingly rejected a resolution adopted by the Auckland Employers’ Association that the employers join the Federation of Labour in an approach to the Arbitration Court for a new general wage order. The meeting, attended by 168 Canterbury employers’ representatives agreed: “That, provided the F.O.L. immediately withdraws all pressure of union direct threats, the Canterbury Employers’ Association requests the Employers’ Federation to meet the F.O.L. immediately with a view to placing a general wage order application before the Court” , The freezing companies’ representatives voted against the motion.
