Arts Council Appointment

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 10. Mr F. Turnovsky, a Wellington businessman, has been appointed a member of the Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr Seath, announced tonight. Mr Turnovsky was bom in Prague in 1909 and is a naturalised New Zealand citizen. He was awarded an 0.8. E. in 1965 for his services to the arts. He was chairman of the Wellington Chamber Music Society from 1949 to 1955, president of the Federation of Chamber Music Societies from 1953 to 1960, and chairman of directors of the New Zealand Opera Company from 1959 to 1966 and again this year. He was a member of the Arts Advisory Council, predecessor of ttie Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council, and a member of the national commission for U.N.E.S.C.O.
