TOWN HALL LOAN

(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, July 12.

The Local Authorities Loans Board deferred for 12 months applications to raise sl.Bm for the new Christchurch Town Hall because it was not considered that the building could be given a high enough priority. The Minister of Finance (Mr Muldoon) gave this answer to a question by Mr E. S. F. Holland (Nat., Fendalton) in Parliament today. Mr Muldoon said he had been informed of this by the secretary of the board, and that the Christchurch City Council had been so advised by letter. “As the application was not declined, the City Council may ask for it to be reconsidered,” Mr Muldoon said. “Arrangements have been made for discussions to be held between council representatives and the chairman of the Loans Board. I will be happy to facilitate this reconsideration.”
