Use Of Airports By HS74B

(From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, July 10. Surprise that the Minister of Civil Aviation (Mr Gordon) had said that the Timaru and Oamaru airports would not be able to take the Mount Cook Airlines Hawker Siddeley 748 by the time it went into commercial use later this year, but would'have to use DC3s until early in 1969, was expressed by the chairman of the Timaru Airport Authority (Mr C. R. Hervey) yesterday. Mr Hervey said that the sealing to be done would take little time to complete. The authority had not received any communication from the Department of Civil Aviation or the Minister to suggest that the beginning of the 748 service would be delayed.
