Value Shown To Board
Four recent fires which had been extinguished by sprinkler systems demonstrated their value and should be widely known, said Mr D. B. Rich at the Christchurch Metropolitan Fire Board’s meeting last evening. The cases were listed in a 'circular of the New Zealand I Urban Fire Authorities’ Association. A fire in a basement of an Auckland departmental store could not be controlled by extinguishers, but when two sprinkler heads operated the fire was put out before the brigade arrived. A fire in a plastic moulding factory in Upper Hutt was held to a small area by sprinklers. When there was a flash fire in a Christchurch rubber J works a sprinkler above the | affected machine called the i brigade and cooled the rollers of the machine. A fire in aprinting works in Dunedin had been extinguished by a sprinkler installation. V
