Decision On Pompidou

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) PARIS, July 10. The French Prime Minister, Mr Georges Pompidou, yesterday confirmed that President de Gaulle had decided to replace him by the Finance Minister, Mr Maurice Couve de Murville, at the head of a new Government of reconstruction and radical reform. “Let us talk no more about It,” he told distressed Gaullist deputies whom he led 10 days ago to a landslide electoral victory. “The matter has now been decided.”

Mr Pompidou and General de Gaulle are parting company mainly over the President’s determination to give workers a voice in the management of their companies, Government sources said. Mr Pompidou was in favour of giving workers more information and an increased share of company profits but drew the line at active and real worker participation in management, they said. Government sources said there would be no new job for Mr Pompidou.
